Halloween Styling Ideas for Your Home

The Celts believed that 31st October was a night of black magic, when witches, ghosts and the spirits of the dead returned to earth.
They lit great bonfires to ward off witches, but also to welcome the ghosts of their ancestors.

Today, for most of us, Halloween is a day for costumes, trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins and hosting parties with plenty of edible treats.
I never pass up an occasion to decorate the home, and Halloween is one of the best.
Dress twigs with lights and hanging pumpkin decorations, and dot the house with mini pumpkins and votives. I always place a couple of larger carved pumpkins on the steps to the front door to welcome visitors.
The mantel is adorned with Halloween decorations, and the dining table is dressed in Halloween style.
On the night itself, set the mood for a Halloween soirée by dimming the lights and lighting plenty of candles and votives. Our table is filled with Halloween nibbles and sweet treats, all displayed on Halloween-themed tableware collected over the years.
Finally, dot a few more mini pumpkins between the dishes and bowls for a truly festive feel.
With the scene set, it is time to celebrate with family and friends and enjoy the occasion.
