Tara's December Letter

Tara's December Letter

The holiday season truly comes alive in our home when the wreath goes up on the front door. I make my own every year from lush green foliage gathered in the garden. It is a messy business, and perfecting the craft takes practice, but the result is always worth it when it adorns the doorway.

Decorating for Christmas

Decorating for Christmas is a week-long affair in our house. Every room is dressed with festive decorations and the essential elements that capture the spirit of the season. As Christmas draws closer, I add the final touches with more greenery from the garden, decorating mirrors, mantels and pictures.

The kitchen, the heart of the home, is bustling during the holiday season. It is where I spend extra time adding festive touches and displaying my collection of Christmas china, and it becomes the festive backdrop for all the baking this time of year demands.

The Christmas tree

The most important moment of all is putting up the Christmas tree, a tradition I look forward to every year. Each year new decorations join our sentimental and nostalgic treasures, every one of them holding a memory of Christmases past.

Let us hope that this Christmas, peace will find a home in every heart.

Yet the magic of Christmas goes beyond the decorations and the delicious smell of baking. It is about spending time with the people we love and cherishing the moments we share.

Amid all the joy and festivity, we must remember that for some, Christmas can be a bittersweet time. Let us hope that this Christmas, peace will find a home in every heart.

Make the most of every moment this season with those you love, wherever you are and however you celebrate, and let the spirit of Christmas bring joy to those around you.
