Tara's August Letter

August brings us to the height of summer, with glorious days filled with sunshine.

As I write this letter, bright sunlight filters through the window, and I could be sitting in a Mediterranean villa somewhere far away. If, like me, you are not getting away this summer, the warm weather is all the more welcome, and there should be more sunny days to come.
Enjoying the garden
August is a rewarding month in the garden. The hard work is largely over for now, with little to do beyond some deadheading to prolong flowering, which leaves plenty of time simply to enjoy it.

There should be more sunny days to come.
Take time to relax and breathe in the beauty and fragrance, heightened by the warmth of the sun. This simple act is a way to unwind and to restore balance and calm. Having an outdoor space in which to enjoy this daily ritual is something to be grateful for.
Layers in the home
Indoors, this month has been spent rearranging pictures and adding a couple of pretty, floral-themed vintage pictures we found recently. Sorting pictures is the perfect excuse for some restyling elsewhere in the home too.

Making our home warm, beautiful and welcoming is a principle I live by every day. A home evolves over time and gathers layers; ours has many, and in everything we buy I aim for the right balance of old and new.
The patina of old objects, and the stories and memories they carry, are what give them their character. Their flaws only enhance their beauty.
Let's celebrate our homes and make them special.
Enjoy August, whatever you are doing, in the garden, at home or on holiday, and here's to many more days of sunshine before we embrace autumn.
