Tara's Garden – January to December · September of 12
Tara's September Letter

September arrives, with summer fading away and autumn showing her golden, sun-kissed face as she paints the landscape red and gold. This is the time when the last of the summer warmth greets autumn's first chill.

Sunny summer days are hard to let go of, but autumn's glory is something to embrace. For me, autumn is a time of renewal, new beginnings and the start of a whole new chapter.
Dahlias and seed heads
On sunny autumn days the garden is still full of life. The dahlias in our garden remain magnificent; the house has been filled with them for weeks, and there are still plenty left to give to friends.

For me, autumn is a time of renewal, new beginnings and the start of a whole new chapter.
The garden is full of wonderful seed heads right now. Gather them for vase arrangements, and collect seeds to sow for next year.
Remember the wildlife, too: always leave plenty of seed heads as winter food for the many birds that visit the garden.
